Driver seeks reimbursement after MLGW steel street plate damaged his car.

"I'm the bad luck guy that ran it over," Nguyen said. "There goes 150 bucks and three hours of my time."

Utility workers place steel street plates temporarily over holes in pavement. The metal equipment acts as a ramp when construction work and repairs require MLGW to tear up Memphis roads.

Nguyen ran over a metal grate on Park Avenue near the intersection of Highland Street this weekend.

“I think the construction workers did a poor job of installing the ramp,” Nguyen said.
